COMPOSTED CONSTRUCTIONS: DEN HAAG

Similar to the process of organic composting, Composted Constructions transforms discarded non-organic human-fabricated materials (through re-fabricating, re-using, re-purposing) into a highly fertile constructions to accomodate various activites related to the ecology of eating, that are then spread over the site in the Erasmusveld neighborhood of Den Haag. Selected materials of wood, metal, paper, plastic, etc. are saved and organized in a project headquarters on site during the run of the project. An indexed series of simple domestically scaled fabrications facilitating a basic set of human, animal, and plant-life activity for the site are desined, developed, fabricated, and installed on site as public prototypes. Each responding to the unique characteristics of the material, facilitating a particular activity, and providing ways to welcome people, animals, plants, and food into more complex conversation. Upon closure of the project, the Composted Constructions are donated to local residents who have identified an interest in pursuing the project further at home in Den Haag.
