TALKING ABOUT THE FUTURE

We are assembling A LIBRARY FOR THE FUTURE and inquire: "What book would you choose to take us forward?"

London gathering to present The Sundown Salon Unfolding Archive at the The Architecture Foundation on Saturday, October 17th, 2:00 - 8:00pm, 136–148 Tooley Street, Ground Floor East, London SE1 2TU.

The London presentation of "The Sundown Salon Unfolding Archive" will be celebrated with a gathering at The Architecture Foundation in London on Saturday, October 17th, 2009. A 6m diameter geodesic tent pitched at the Architecture Foundation will serve as our domestic lounge, reading library, meeting hall, teahouse, and headquarters for the day. London residents that have contributed to A LIBRARY FOR THE FUTURE, will be invited to visit the dome and give a brief talk about their book selection, explaining why they believe it could "take us forward." Confirmed participants and a provisional schedule...

2:00 - 6:00pm - Library contributors talk about the future, and the books that could take us forward. We will drink tea in the dome.

"The Sundown Salon Unfolding Archive" by Evil Twin Publications documents the thirty Sundown Salon events at the Los Angeles geodesic dome residence of Fritz Haeg from 2001-2006 in one continuous 50m long sheet of paper that folds up to become the 380 page volume with color photos on one side and text on the other. This gathering will mark the first viewing of the book outside of the the United States, and will be unfolded on the walls and a long table for a social display/exhibition.
