the palm house was built in 1876 to display tropical plants which cannot survive outdoors in sydney. In the spirit of the original purpose of the space, the sydney botanic mixer will bring people together to consider the plants that are native to sydney and it's environs. an open house art & craft gathering. all are welcome to spend the afternoon studying and drawing the native plants of sydney that were here before you! botanists & horticulturists will tell plant stories of the specimens on display. selected drawings made during the mixer will be exhibited in the palm house with the hothouse painting show through january 22nd, 2005.
